i am having a very strage issue with my xbox or my network.
the problem is this, i have 2 pc and my xbox hard wired to a router. inorder to access my pc in xbmc i go into workgroup smb and it shows the workgroup fine. the problem starts when i turn off my room-mates pc. if this (much older) pc is off the xbox can not access the network. i get an error that says "nt_object_status_not_found".
what makes it even odder is even with my room-mates pc off my pc can still ftp to the xbox. i am not sure if it is an issue with the xbox, my pc, or my router.
have any of you seen this error? is there a fix for it? and what is it?
any suggestions would help.
thanks.
to make things worse my room mates pc has died causing my network to be down till i get this issue fixed.
any ideas would help.
1) open up xboxmediacenter.xml file via ftp. it's located on your xbox in the same location as your xbmc xbe file
2) find the "
so check the ips. i get this error when my server runs out of memory. then all shares are lost and i have to reboot.
maybe it also has something to do with different windows versions (w2k, xp). i heard of some net problems with this two versions in one network (guess you have to goggle about that).
ftp is entirely different. *it's ip based. *this is why you can ftp from your pc to your xbox. *
you can force windows to bypass this by specifying the destination machine. *just put your computer's name or ip address in the smb:// url. *try the ip first, since it avoids having to use wins (windows name resolution).
example:
smb://workgroup;xbox:xbox@192.168.1.1/music/
i am sorry, i am new to this.. where would i put this string. is there somewhere on my pc or is it something i need to change on the xbox.
i thought it was maybe a setting on my pc, but i can not find anything. it works on every other network i put it on but mine.
some more detail would be helpfull.. thx
