i have an hdtv, and i'm using component out from the xbox.
it uses 1080i display, which works perfectly fine.
the problem i have, is that the xbox opens the avi files, starts playing, but stops almost immediately.
now, before you say "the resolution is too high", let me add that a small sample clip (20 to 60mb) of the same resolution and bitrate plays perfectly and looks and sounds great. but when i try to play the whole thing, it chokes on it.
even tv shows where the file is 690mb, it chokes but has no problem with a small sample.
now, i know this should work, because the guy who gave me the high res movies had it working on his xbmc...
i've tried loading it from the local hd, from a dvd and even over a network share... it's always the same.
any ideas?
what do i need to replace or fix, if anything?
the xbmc build i have is from march 20th.
any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks.
i did notice that the newer builds (like the 10th) will play the audio but the screen is black and the xbox no longer responds to input commands via the remote or the controller.
anyone else notice this?
i also have a hdtv and had some problem playing back "normal" videos with the default cache settings. i set mine a lot lower and it seems to work much better. not sure this will help with the higher res. videos but its worth a try.....

...exactly what i experienced, but i just want to launch the files from 1080i - cause they play smoothly in 702p.
can't xbmc be forced to switch resolution, before running into memory problems ??
so many letters, so little info
what resolution are the clips ?
