Is this normal after taking Vicodin?

Posted on Wednesday 17 March 2010

  • I dislocated my finger and the ER doc gave me Vicodin and Tylenol. She told only take the Vicodin at night...I took it right before I went to bed and woke up mid way through the night sweating and not knowing where I was(so to speak)? Is this normal when taking this?

  • no it definately is not..Sounds like it could be to strong for you try cutting it in half or just take the tylenol instead...

  • Honestly, ask HOUSE!

@@@@ I saw what SHERRIE wrote! DO NOT CUT IT IN HALF! It might be a time release capsule (pill) and if you cut it in half, you might get the dose all at once and it will DESTROY your kidneys.@@@@

It does say that it can cause confusion, fear, unusual thoughts or behavior; feeling anxious, dizzy, or drowsy; hyperventilation; (yellowing of eyes or skin).
So I think that if you are alone or feel really not comfortable, you should start drinking a lot of water and go to the hospital or something. Because the water will help your body eliminate the vicodin faster and go to the hospital so they can keep you under close surveillance.
Because other side effects are seizure (convulsions);allergic reaction, seizures, clammy skin, severe weakness, dizziness, hyperventilation, unconsciousness...
So if you go unconscious, you can't really get help. And if you get an allergic reaction, you never know if your airways are going to close on you. Seizure's might make you hit something sharp or hard and you might get a concussion. Dizziness is not cool when you are driving. And the yellow eyes might mean your liver is failing! :) So don't take this as if it was a game with a cheat to bring it back to 100% health!
    Make the right decision!

And HONESTLY CHARLIE! YOU'RE AN ***!
That's why I said might be a time release pill! MIGHT!!!!
Stop acting like a super hero.
This person might have an allergic reaction.
    You never know!
    SO STOP POSTING STUPID COMMENTS!

As Michael said : Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject, so you know you are getting the best possible information.

So don't try to contradict that statement!
    Mr. WRONG!

  • Yes, this can certainly happen. If the drug is too much for you, you will sweat. I have a reference on this, if I find it I will. But yes.

  • LOL,, I'm not sure about the other answsers,, maybe it's easy to see why I say don't depend on guesses ,, especially by strangers,,, what kind of backpack to use or what color to wear are good questions here but not about narcotics,,, you just got two completely wrong answsers,,,

You can break it in half,,, vicodin is NOT a time released drug

The tylenol is in the pill so it's going to be a little hard getting it out without the narcotic so that idea won't work

Your eyes do not turn yellow when your kidneys fail,,,it's your liver,, your skin is not going to turn yellow either,, LOL

You have no reason at all to even think about the ER,,LOL

And don't worry about asking House,,, watching House didn't seem to help much!!

    You get my point

Yeah it is pretty common for a lot of people,, it could be a minor reaction,, did you itch?? You may have a very low tolerance and what you were feeling was being loaded,(to speak of) You were a little high that's all,,,You'll be fine,,, make sure you do not try to drive on it,, You are one of the ones they have the warnings on the bottles for.

Here is good info on hydrocodone side effects

    Good luck,,, you are fine
