Beethoven Translation - four lines from Choral Fantasia

Posted on Wednesday 17 March 2010

  • I would like to find the German to English translation of the following words from Beethoven's Choral Fantasia. Can you help me with this. Thank you.

  • The words for translation: Grosses, das in?s Herz gedrungen, Bluht dann neu und schon empor, Hat ein Geist sich aufgeschwungen, Hall?t ihm stets ein Geisterchor. Thanks

  • Thank you so much. I spent so much time this weekend trying to find the translation. It is just what I needed and thanks for the editing.

  • Dear mdriscoll7, I have taken the liberty to slightly correct the German lines by using umlauts and an ' ' where appropriate and by omitting two apostrophs. Then, I have translated the lines into English with the intention to stick as closely as possible to the meaning of the German words: Gro es, das ins Herz gedrungen, Bl ht dann neu und sch n empor, Hat ein Geist sich aufgeschwungen, Hallt ihm stets ein Geisterchor. Greatness that permeated the heart, Then blooms anew and beautifully, When a mind has exalted, A chorus of spirits always sounds for it. I hope this is what you needed! Best regards, Scriptor
