I'm 7 weeks pregnant (just going into the 8th week). At how many weeks do you have your first ultrasound scan?
Thanks in advance.just depends i had my first one when i first found out i was pregnant at 12 weeks and then i had another one at around 26 weeks.. With both my pregnancies my first ultrasound was around 12 weeks, then after 18 weeks.well i've been going to the doctor every 3 weeks and we listened to the heartbeat at 13 and he says next month (20 weeks) is when they will do the ultra sound. and i can find out the sex.20 weeks.
Some doctors do them every visit, while others only do one.1st scan is from around 11 to 14 weeks your midwife will book you in for this and give you a date when she comes to see you, then next one will be around 18/ 22 weeks you will get that appointment after you have had your 1st scan, and you should be able to listen to baby's heart beat when you go for your midwifes appointments from 16 weeks onwards I had mine at about 9 weeks and then at 18 I believe. But I was high risk.about 8 to 11 weeksthey will do ur first ultrasound at around 12 weeks to detect for down syndrome... congradsabout 12, unless u don't know when you concieved...then another about 20 weeksIt is usually done around 12 weeks.
But it can be anything from 10 weeks up to 16 weeks as it depends on when they can fit you in.
Good luck.I had my first at 9 weeks b/c of my diabetes to make sure the baby was ok! I seen a wee flicker of a heartbeat! I was the same as you though, I was kind of half expecting the doc to say that there never was a baby there in the first place! Thankfully there was and he's due in about 8 weeks! Woohoo!!I had mine at 6 weeks and I saw the speck in the sac...lol
With my first I was able to have two ultrasounds one at 10 weeks and another at 21 or 22 weeks... but with my second I only got one ultrasound at 22 weeks (BOO!) I depends on the doctor (my first obgyn had a in house US machine and the second didn't) and I would assume that possibly insurance would also determine how mony US you would get... But either way you'll deffinately get one around 20 or so weeks... Congrats!I'm going to be having mine to day at 10 I am 9 weeks. If you ask your doctor they normally don't mind giving you one. Good luckWhen you have your first NHS scan in the UK depends on the area you live in. Some NHS Trusts do a nuchal scan at around 12 weeks. But most Trusts do a dating scan at 14-15 weeks which accompanies the blood tests you have at 16 weeks.
In my area, which set of tests you get depends on which hospital you chose to give birth in!
Lots of people pay to have a private nuchal scan at 12 weeks because they want to check that everything is fine at the 12 week mark so they can start announcing their pregnancy. A scan like this usually costs about £100 and lots of private hospitals do them.
I had one with my first pregnancy and it was really good.
Btw, it's very common to think the scan won't show anything - just about everyone I know has thought that!!12 weeks is the normal time but it all depends on where you live and your previous health.
İ know in some countries its 20 weeks. İ live in turkey and i can pay to have a scan whenever i want.
That's with private health care noramlly they have the ultrascan at 12 weeks. but if you are having any bleeding they do it early but its internal. i had my 1st scan at 7wks and 1day and again at 9wks and 3days and again at 10wks 3days.that was because i had a m/c this april and they wanted to check the baby.you normally get a scan around 10-12wkks and again at 18wks-20wksI had my first one at 7 weeks 1 day. My doctor does one at every visit, I am going at 12 weeks again to do all the screenings and tests.
congrats on being preg!don't know about the uk, but in ireland usually between 16 and 18 weeks. earlier if there is any bleeding or unexplained pain.I was very sick so I had my first US at 6 weeks and saw the baby & the heartbeat. I had another today and saw my bigger baby and heard the heartbeat (7 weeks 4 days). I think 8 wks is typical for your first US.hiya , i had my first at 12 weeks,which was a dating scan and my second at 20 wks which was an anomoly scan (to check baby is ok). i think it depends on where you are in the country as to when you get yer scans.
Any time past 5 weeks is good. For the best picture of your baby, go around 8 weeks. To be safe though, probably 6 to make sure the baby is okay. I hope your pregnancy goes amazing :)
